The variety of performances range from classical music, Shakespeare, ballet, jazz, children’s theatre, classic films and more! What’s Playing this Summer
The Miller Outdoor Theatre summer schedule includes: Pippin, Houston Shakespeare Festival: Twelfth Night and Richard III, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Fantastic Beasts, Singing in the Rain and La La Land movie viewing, a Tribute to Selena, Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band 50th Anniversary Tribute to The Beatles featuring The Fab 5 & The Texas Medical Center Orchestra, a celebration for Nat King Cole, Classic Albums Live presents Credence Clearwater Survival and lastly Godspell. And that’s all just throughout the summer (July-August). The season isn’t over after August!
One of the most enjoyable parts of a casual evening is bringing your own picnic. Lay out a picnic blanket, open up a cooler with some wine or beer (no glass containers, though) and sit back and relax. If you forget snacks, no worries! There’s a concession area where one can buy regular concession items, such as corndogs, hamburgers, french-fries and popcorn, but you can also buy other options such as coffee, wine and beer.
The Logistics
Free parking can be found in areas surrounding Hermann Park. For evenings, the best option is at the Houston Zoo area. You could even make the trip fun and convenient by parking at the Fannin Metro station and take the Metro Rail to Hermann Park.
Word of caution! There are families, small children and even pets, so don’t expect it to be quiet on the hill. This is part of the charm of the event — the relaxed environment.
For a lovely, relaxing evening, for whatever taste, pick a performance and enjoy a night at Miller Outdoor Theatre. It’s not to miss! Interested in shopping local in Houston? Want to get even more beautiful before heading out to MOT? Try one of The Upper Hand’s award winning Houston hair salons.
