Shu Uemura in Houston
Shu Uemura is a Houston beauty favorite for a couple reasons. First, Shu Uemura’s amazing Satin Design frizz free blow dry lotion is nothing short of miraculous in Houston’s humidity. Secondly, the brand has a rich and glamorous history. He was a famous makeup artist born in Japan in 1928. As a graduate of the Tokyo Beauty Academy, Shu Uemura made a name for himself working on Hollywood celebrities. He used this fame to launch his own cosmetics line in 1960. After numerous successful years, Shu Uemura sold his compay to L’Oreal in 2004. His reknowned Art of Hair product line launched in the US and Houston a few years later.
Shu Uemura Collections
Six major catagories comprise Shu Uemura’s hair care line. The lines include Color Lustre for color treated hair, Urban Moisture for dry to normal hair and Murito Volume for finer hair. In addition, the brand offers Shusu Sleek for coarse or hard to manage hair, Silk Bloom for damaged hair and Ultimate Remedy for extremely damaged hair. Each line contains a shampoo, conditioner and masque as well as condition specific styling products.
Blow Dry Beautifier
A couple of Shu Uemura’s recent product launches are in the Blow Dry Beautifier lineup. Comprised of a BB Serum and BB Cream the set has affectionately referred to as the Dynamic Duo. Made with plant extracts, the BB Serum also preps the hair with thermal protectant and moisturizes it without the weight. Similar to the serum, BB Cream offers the same ingredients and benefits while formulated for thick hair. BB serum, on the other hand, is designed for use with fine to medium hair. To use either product simply dab onto damp hair, blow dry and style.

Shu Uemura hair products are available at our River Oaks and Royal Oaks hair salons in Houston. The line is relatively easy to prescribe, however, it is always best to speak with your hair stylist.
