Goldwell History

Houston is one of Goldwell’s top markets for professional hair color and products.  Founded in Germany in 1948, Goldwell has been responsible for many of the beauty industry’s most creative products.  In 1971 Goldwell entered the hair color market with Top Chic and its success propelled their expansion into North America.  Today, they are owned by Kao’s salon division and lead the beauty industry with their professional grade hair color and consumer styling products.  Goldwell is also widely regarded as one of the top educators in the beauty industry.   In addition to amazing regional training, they also founded Color Zoom, an annual competition for stylists from around the world.

Goldwell Color

Today Goldwell manufactures its renowned color line in three distinct categories.  These groups include permanent and semi permanent color as well as lighteners. Goldwell’s permanent color lines includes the Nectaya and Elumen brands as well as its iconic Topchic color. The semi permanent line includes Colorance, Men Reshade and Soft Color. Lastly, the lightener color category consists of Silklift, Oxycur Platin and New Blonde.

Goldwell’s Kerasilk Line

Kerasilk is Goldwell’s luxury hair care line.  Keratin and Silk are the lines two main ingredients.  Together, these two ingredients build a foundation that enhances the hair’s natural shine, protection and structure. A strong keratin shield also coats the entire hair shaft thereby adding a layer of protection to the cuticle.  In addition, the Kerasilk line is available for four hair types.  Kerasilk Control helps hard to manage hair.  Reconstruct helps repair compromised or damaged hair.  Kerasilk Repower adds volume to fine hair.  Lastly, Kerasilk Color protects color treated hair.  No matter the texture of your natural hair, Kerasilk has a product for you.

Color Zoom

Every year Goldwell holds Color Zoom, an industry wide event for the world’s top hair stylists.  Color Zoom challenges hair stylists to take their talent and creativity to the next level.  The event is not only educational but motivational and is one of the beauty industry’s most sought after tickets.  Last year’s event took place in Stockholm and Color Zoom 2017 will be held in Barcelona in October.  The Upper Hand’s artistic team has participated in the Color Zoom process and several of our hair stylists have attended the events.  The Upper Hand offers Goldwell color and products at all three of our Houston hair salon locations.
